REDUCE
Reducing the amount waste we produce, such as packing materials used for transportation, reducing to only what is absolutely necessary. We have adopted a completely paperless warehouse department, with all pick/dispatch processed through digital scanners.
We are improving the insulation throughout the building resulting in increasing heat retention, reducing energy required.

We have reduced our energy usage by 30% in the last 12 months.
We have acheived this by upgrading all lights in offices and warehouse to LED and PIR sensors. Lighting in our robotics warehouse has been reduced by 90%.
We are also going to be installing solar PV to increase on-site electrical generation to reduce consumption of standard grid electricity, this is estimated to give us a further energy reduction of 35-40%

REUSE
Reusing any materials possible, we have removed all single use plastic bottles in the company and have provided all staff with aluminium sustainable, re-usable water bottles.

RECYCLE
Recycling all waste materials by partnering with a Recycling Management company who are committed to minimising the impacts of waste onto the environment, everything that can’t be traditionally recycled is compacted and used to generate power. All pallets we take that aren’t reused are broken down and used as biomass to provide heating throughout our warehouse.

The DIY Week Awards praised the efforts and progress so far, handing over the Sustainability Initiative of the Year trophy at the prize-giving ceremony held at the Tower Hotel in London.
The judges chose A. Perry above fierce competition, noting that they were impressed by a 'very impressive and authentic commitment' to integrating a sustainable strategy across the business.

Over the last 2+ years we have ensured that every new product that we launch onto the market is with as little plastic as possible, with the ultimate goal to contain no plastic at all and for whatever packaging to remain to be widely recyclable material, such as card and certain recyclable plastics.

HANGABLE DOOR HANDLE BOX
Old packaging method was a clam pack, made from non-recyclable thermoformed clam. The goal was to completely eliminate all plastic, we spent many hours coming up with the best way to do this, as there are many solutions on the market that have a card base but use plastic to hold the handles in place. Our solution was able to overcome this.

HANGABLE TIMBER SCREW BOX
Like the handle box, the existing method was a plastic clam pack. The difficulty with this design was that we wanted the packaging to have a window for customers to be able to see the screws inside the box. Ensuring the exact dimensions and packing method was used, this was able to be overcome. We also replaced plastic tape with paper.

HANGABLE HAY NET PACKAGING
The previous method of packaging these items was a to be bagged loose using plastic. Our goal for this project was to not only eliminate the plastic used, but to find a more suitable method of displaying the range in a retail environment. What we created was a paper sleeve with the ability to be hung on a retail display.
