A. Perry Driving the Eco Message at NMBS Trade Show

A. Perry, the award-winning UK hardware supplier, is excited to launch Perry Fixings, a brand-new range of fixings and fasteners packed in Eco-Friendly, plastic free packaging at the NMBS Trade Show on 19th and 20th April. Not only this but the brand will also be showcasing for the first time to the public, their new PrePack hardware ranges in eco-friendly packaging, which has been nearly 3 years in development. Following their win of the DIY Week Sustainability of the Year Award in 2022, the new eco-friendly packaging is a result of the company's ambitious plans and strategies to become market leaders in sustainability.

The new range of fixings and fasteners is designed specifically for the agricultural market and was developed in close collaboration with key customers from the targeted sector. All products have been packaged with the environment in mind, with hangable cardboard boxes replacing plastic bags and plastic tubs are produced using fully recyclable materials. The range consists of 100s of new items including Timber fixings, Roofing Bolts and Screws, a wide selection of Engineering Fasteners, Masonry Fixings and their existing range of Nails has been re-packaging in line with the rest of the Eco Packaged products. All items are come with ultra clear product labels, designed with customers to be as user friendly as possible ensuring consumers find the item that best suits the job.

The new packaging for the PrePack Hardware offering eliminates all non-essential plastics and replaces any remaining plastics with a minimum of 30% recycled LDPE content alternative that is fully recyclable. The new backing cards replacing the bags are made from corrugated board, strong enough to hold all items currently packaged in hanging bags, and the items are held in place by recycled cable ties that are also widely recyclable.

"We estimate a massive 95% reduction in all types of plastic within our packaging," says Marketing Director, Steve Perry. "Moving to plastic-free packaging means the actual packaging footprint of the item on display is far smaller. Approximately 40% less space is now needed to display the same items, meaning customers can get nearly twice as much product using the same amount of space on a display stand!"

"Our Eco Packaging project is undoubtedly a priority when it comes to sustainability plans but it is certainly not the only development we have made within the organisation," says the Marketing Director. "Since October 2021, we have reduced our overall company energy usage by 30%, cutting 60 tonnes of carbon from our UK facility, which is 70% of our total carbon. All lights in offices and the warehouse have been upgraded to LED and PIR sensors, while lighting in our robotics warehouse has been reduced by 90%. Also, just this month we have finished installing 300 solar panels on the premises increasing on-site electrical generation to reduce consumption off the standard grid electricity. It is estimated that this will give us a further energy reduction of 35-40%"

The launch of the new eco-friendly ranges is an important milestone for A. Perry, showing its commitment to sustainable practices and the environment. "We are proud to be launching these new ranges at the NMBS Trade Show," says the Guy Perry, Managing Director. "We hope that these eco-friendly initiatives will inspire other companies to take action towards a more sustainable future."
